To become a host family for Espace Lyon-Japon

Staying with a host family allows the students to immerse in French people's everyday life. This system aims at helping them understand the mentality and local culture, and allowing them to speak French outside of school hours, which is essential to master the language. This type of accomodation does not fall under the category of hotels. The students must comply with a certain number of practices and rules of good conduct.

The members of host families will seek to establish good relations with the students they welcome and will do their best to make them feel at home and take full part into the family's everyday life.

Each member will have to make sure :

• To agree on the ways of using the facilities and equipments of their home.

• to agree on eveyday life's schedule, such as meal hours or the use of the bathroom.

• not to use the students' computers or personal devices without their explicit consent.

• Not to impose on them any particular menu that would not suit the religious convictions or medical diet of the student. The students must inform Espace Lyon Japon on registration of their food requirements, for instance if they have allergies or if they cannot eat certain dishes.

• To inform the student well in advance of any particular event (i.e. a party or a prolonged absence)

• To take due note of possible night outings or prolonged absences of the students. If they do not come home for dinner, they must inform their host families well in advance so that their meal should not be prepared in vain. In case of repeated disrespect of one of these rules, the family will have into start a mediation procedure with ELJ.

• To inform immediately the school in case of problems with the student. ELJ will act as mediator.

•Students can benefit from homestay only for the duration of their courses at ELJ. They must leave their host family's place within 7 days after their last schoolday at Espace Lyon-Japon.

Supplementary Information :

The address of host families is communicated two weeks before the student's departure, less for late applications. Placements always depend on the availability of host families.

In case of major conflict with the host family, ELJ remains committed to find another one according to availability.

Half-board is included in the contract between family and student.

An extra fee of €35 per week is charged for full board.

Payment of the rent :

A proof of payment is edited each month between the 1st and the 10th day of the month.

This document must be signed by the student, a person in charge in the family and someone in charge at ELJ.

This document will present only the total amount of the rent and the extra charge for full board, if any, corresponding to the current month.

Should the renting begin between the 11th and the last day of the month, the pro-rated amount of the rent will be added to the rent of the following month.

The payment is made directly by the student to the family. ELJ takes no part in any payment related to accomodation.
